Energy Efficiency of Buildings and Nearly Zero Energy Buildings in Slovakia
This webinar will include two short presentations:
1. Energy Performance of Buildings in Slovakia by Michal Krajčík:
A new directive has been in force in Slovakia since 1st January 2021, that aims to reduce the energy consumption and the dependence of the European Union member states on primary energy sources. Simultaneously, the directive aims to promote the use of renewable energy sources to cover the energy consumption and reduce harmful CO2 emissions, that impact the environment. To support the effort to improve the energy performance of buildings and find the cost-optimal solutions, the European Committee for Standardization created a set of standards for calculation of buildings energy balance. These standards have been transposed to the Slovak legislation and supplemented by Slovak national standards and regulations. The result is thousands of pages of documents related to the buildings energy balance, which can make the calculation process time consuming and complex. The presentation is focused on a simple overview of legislative requirements, standards in the solved field.
2. Nearly Zero Energy Buildings in Slovakia by Anna Predajnianska:
Most residential buildings in Slovakia, built in the 20th century, do not meet current requirements for energy efficiency. Therefore, nationwide remedial measures have been taken to improve the energy efficiency of these buildings and reduce their energy consumption. The goal of renovations is to ensure today´s strict conditions for the energy consumption of buildings and thus achieve nearly zero energy buildings. In this presentation, we focused on the reconstruction of an old family house, which was built in 1960. The family house has been uninhabited for decades and was in a desolated state. We created three different options of reconstruction for the family house, each with different materials and technical equipment. The presentation does not describe in detail the technical solution of individual reconstructions.
